Temple of the Reclining Buddha @ Wat Pho

One of my favorite places to visit in Bangkok is the Reclining Buddha. Buddha here is larger than life, and the building he is in is small which makes him look even bigger. It’s almost impossible to take him all in, which is part of the fun.

One of my favorite parts of the visit are Buddha’s feet. In Thai culture, the feet are considered unclean (so don’t go pointing your feet at anyone). But in this spiritual house, Buddha’s feet are quite ornate and decorated. I could look at them all day, and I don’t like feet either…although now maybe I am self-diagnosing myself as having a reclining buddha foot fetish.

The back of Buddha’s head is also pretty cool. The details that are displayed in the craftmanship are stunning.
